What is cellulite?

Cellulite is fat with bands of connective tissues running through it. The most common analogy is of down comforters - where the fat is the down and the connective tissue is the sewing that binds the fabric together. The tighter and less-flexible the connective tissue is, OR the more stuffing (fat) there is, the greater the uneven pocketing of cellulite.

Cellulite can be found in certain areas of the body: the thighs, abdominal area and buttocks for women. Men, generally have much less cellulite, because their connective tissue has a different structure. When men have cellulite, it is most often in the neck and in the abdomen.
Many experts feel that restricted circulation aggravates cellulite, trapping fats and toxins in cellulite pockets, and hardening the connective tissue. Increasing circulation through exercise, unrestrictive clothing, or use of a sauna, can improve or help prevent cellulite.

Treatment procedures include cellulite massage, exercise, cellulite diets, cellulite creams, cellulite removal procedures involving laser procedures, heat, etc. This website will provide an overview of many cellulite treatments and pointers to where you can get more information on the cellulite treatments.

Ultimately most cellulite treatments merely reduce the appearance and occurrence of cellulite. They cannot eliminate cellulite completely. Cellulite treatments can however greatly enhance a woman's appearance and confidence and continue to evolve. This website will be updated as new cellulite treatments emerge.
